Government Shutdown Assistance

Are you impacted by the Government Shutdown?  WE'RE HERE FOR YOU!

Here are some ways we can help:

Loans are available to almost all members who have direct deposit of their government pay with USECU.  They are interest free (0.00% APR) and for a term of up to 60 days.  Approval for these short-term loans is not based on your credit score!  That's right, credit reports will not be pulled.

To qualify for this loan, you must satisfy all of these requirements:

  • You are a federal government employee whose direct deposit of pay will be impacted by a government shutdown; and Your total bi-weekly direct deposit is at least $500.00; and
  • Your USECU accounts are in good standing; and
  • Your direct deposit immediately preceding the government shutdown was deposited into an active USECU account: and
  • You were not part of the VERA (Voluntary Early Retirement Authority) program.

Loan amounts will be calculated by rounding your last bi-weekly direct deposit down to the nearest $100.00 increment.  For example, if your last government pay was $3,479.41, your loan amount will be $3,400.00. If your direct deposit is deposited into more than one USECU account, your loan amount will be based upon the total amount of direct deposits.

The Government Shutdown Loan is repaid in 60 days or when the government processes back pay, whichever is sooner.  USECU will debit the account initially credited and payoff the loan.

For loan proceeds to be available on your normally scheduled pay date, you must submit this application by noon on the business day prior.
